“29” Segmented Concrete Pilings
Segmented Concrete Pilings consist of a series of solid concrete blocks each measuring 8” x 8” x 8” and containing a hole in the middle. These blocks are sequentially driven by means of an electro-hydraulically power pack. With each block driven, a #5 steel pin is inserted to provide directional stability. Should wooden pilings be present, we will cut the piling free from the bottom of the slab, drill a hole in the remaining piling in which a #5 steel pin will be inserted, and drive the blocks to a depth of refusal. If no wooden piling exists, we will drive the pilings into the soil, using steel pins as described above to a depth of refusal. Refusal is defined herein as that depth at which no further blocks may be driven without raising the concrete slab beyond a point necessary for leveling purposes. This will be done at each location identified in the scope of work.
If we discover that the slab is cracked and needs additional support, the use of steel I-Beam might be required. If we discover this to be the case, we will consult with homeowner and present an additional scope of work and additional costs associated with this type of repair.
