Renovation (Non-Structural) Permit

Replace the existing roof. There is a layer of asbestos shingles that was covered over by new slate tiles in 2007. We will remove both layers of existing roof (following all procedures for proper removal and disposal of asbestos shingles) and replace with a synthetic slate tile. The existing slate tile is not the original roof material. HDLC can provide the previous certificates of appropriateness for the existing layer of asbestos shingles that was installed in 2005 and the existing layer of slate that was installed in 2011 to replace a slate roof that was installed post-Katrina, around 2007. The roof is bowing in certain parts of the building from the weight of the slate which is why we want to install a new lighter weight roof material.
