7' × 10' Lean-To Storage Shed Construction for outdoor storage
The project consists of constructing a detached 7-foot by 10-foot wood-framed lean-to storage shed on a raised foundation. The shed is designed for general storage and is built using treated wood framing.
Foundation: The shed is supported by concrete blocks placed on a compacted 6-inch gravel base to provide drainage and a stable foundation. The floor framing consists of pressure-treated 2×6 floor joists spaced 16 inches on center. A 3/4-inch pressure-treated plywood subfloor is securely fastened to the joists to create a durable floor system.
Floor Dimensions
Overall footprint: 7.6 feet × 10 feet
Wall Framing: The walls are framed with 2×4 studs spaced 16 inches on center. The front wall measures approximately 10 feet 7 inches high, while the rear wall measures approximately 7 feet 8 inches high, creating the slope required for the lean-to roof.
The front wall includes:
One framed entry door opening.
Two framed window openings.
Double 2×6 headers above door and windows for structural support.
The side walls are cut to match the roof slope and tied into the front and rear walls.
Roof Structure: The roof is a single-slope (lean-to) roof framed with 2×6 rafters spaced 16 inches on center extending from the taller front wall to the lower rear wall. Roof consists of 1/2-inch plywood fastened to the rafters with sheathing and shingles installed. Metal Z-flashing is installed where necessary.
