VCC General Work Permit

To repoint two areas of the building utilizing mortar mixed and applied per the VCC standard detail sheet (attached) and as per materials stamped VCC approved 04/15/2026. Work includes:
• Removal of existing deteriorated mortar primarily with hand tool and using a Arbortech saw only as needed taking care not to impact the existing brick
• Any deteriorated, cracked, or broken bricks shall be replaced to match existing in color, size, material, porosity, detail, profile and exposure.
• All reinstalled masonry must be properly "toothed in" to existing masonry wall
• All mortar to be mixed using the VCC recipe (attached) with a maximum of 1 part Portland Cement, to 3 parts lime, to 9 parts sand, and enough water to form a workable mix. Prepackaged mixes are not permitted. The resulting mix should range in color from off-white to beige but should not be grey or white in color.

VOIDS IN THE BRICK ARE NOT TO BE FILLED WITH MORTAR. BROKEN, DETERIORATED BRICKS MUST BE REPLACED WITH BRICKS MATCHING THE PREVIOUS.
MORTAR IS NOT TO BE APPLIED OVER THE FACE OF THE BRICKS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
