Emergency repair of St. Philip-side brick-between-posts wall, per attached materials stamped VCC approved 12/03/2025.
Remove inappropriate rotten lumber and install rough hewn cedar posts of same size, finish, exposure, reveal, etc. as existing historic posts. Disassemble sections of brick between posts as needed and reinstall using VCC mortar formula (attached). Bricks to be laid to match existing bond. Mortar joint size and reveal to match existing. Any deteriorated, cracked, or broken bricks shall be replaced to match existing in color, size, material, porosity, detail, profile and exposure. Any existing inappropriate infill bricks that are not compatible shall not be reused.
All reinstalled masonry must be properly "toothed in" to existing masonry wall, using VCC mortar formula (attached).
Repaint masonry and new posts to match existing in color and finish. [Most recently permitted in 2017 as "Soft Pumpkin," 2166-40, flat or eggshell finish
**NOTE: If parge coat is present under paint, reapply to match existing using VCC formula, attached. If further repairs are needed or additional rot is uncovered, contact VCC staff immediately. Do not undertake structural work without further approval. All work must be properly shored and secured at all times.
