Replace damaged brick and repointing the masonry aprroximately 300 bricks , which will be completed in accordance with New Orleans HDLC Guidelines.

Joint Preparation:
All mortar will be removed to a minimum depth of 2 to 2 1/2 times the width of the joint to ensure an adequate mortar bed is created. Removal of old mortar using Arbortech mortar saw, so as not to damage the masonry. Mortar will be removed cleanly from the masonry units, to achieve the best adhesion with new materials, and, with the use of vacuums to catch the debris and dust.
Before repointing, the joints will be rinsed with a jet of water to remove all loose particles and dust.
Remove damaged bricks and replace with bricks (provided by client).

Filling the Joints:
Where existing mortar has been removed to a depth of greater than 1 inch, deeper areas will be filled first, compacting the new mortar in several layers. The back of the entire joint will be filled successively by applying mortar, packing it well into the back corners. As soon as the mortar has reached thumb-print hardness, another layer of mortar-approximately the same thickness-will be
applied. Several layers may be needed to fill the joint flush with the outer surface of the masonry and time for the mortar to harden between layers to achieve optimum adhesion.
Once the final layer of mortar is thumbprint hard, the joint will be tooled to match the historic joint.
