SHINGLE ROOF REPLACEMENT 1. Removal and Disposal: Remove, haul, tear-off, and dispose of one layer of the existing roof.Ref code 8JMTD2
2. Reinforcement of any areas showing signs of rafter spreading using approved framing ties or
bracing through the installation of metal joist hangers at joist-to-beam connections.
3. Roof Deck Nailing: Nail the existing roof deck with 8d ring-shank nails spaced at 4 inches on
center per F-RR-3 standards.
4. Deck Sealing: Install deck tape on decking seams across the entire roof to enhance sealing.
5. Waterproofing: Install Ice & Water Shield per local building codes.
6. Underlayment: Install synthetic underlayment for additional moisture and wind-driven rain
protection.
7. Drip Edge: Replace the existing drip edge with a new fortified drip edge that extends 1/2 inch
below the sheathing and a minimum of 2 inches back onto the roof. Secure the drip edge to the
roof deck with mechanical fasteners at a maximum of 4 inches apart.
8. Starter Shingles: Install double-sided starter shingle rolls along the entire perimeter of the
roof.
