St. Theresa of Avila Church has been decommissioned for Catholic religious use. The building is now listed for sale to a secular organization. I am the pastor of St. Patrick's Church and have been entrusted the task of removing the sacred articles from the building so that there is no possibility that a future owner of the building may dishonor them. The facade of the building has four articles which are sacred for our faith must be used for religious purposes only. They are the statue of St. Theresa of Avila above the central door, the decorative cross at the top of the bell tower, and the cross at the apex of the facade. These need to be removed and placed in a sacred setting. Lastly, the marble plaque that invokes the name of St. Theresa needs to be covered with a solid material so that any future use of the building would not offend our religious practice. Guidance on the permitting process for these works would be greatly appreciated.
