Paint to match existing
Any deteriorated, cracked, or broken bricks shall be replaced to match existing in color, size, material, porosity, detail, profile and exposure.
All reinstalled masonry must be properly "toothed in" to existing masonry wall, using VCC mortar formula (attached).
VOIDS IN THE BRICK ARE NOT TO BE FILLED WITH MORTAR. BROKEN, DETERIORATED BRICKS MUST BE REPLACED WITH BRICKS MATCHING THE PREVIOUS.
All mortar to be mixed using the VCC recipe (attached) with a maximum of 1 part Portland Cement, to 3 parts lime, to 9 parts sand, and enough water to form a workable mix. Prepackaged mixes are not permitted. The resulting mix should range in color from off-white to beige but should not be grey in color.
MORTAR IS NOT TO BE APPLIED OVER THE FACE OF THE BRICKS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Doing so will result in a STOP WORK ORDER being placed on the property and violation case will be opened on the property.
Lath of any kind is prohibited unless preapproved by VCC staff prior to installation.
Failure to exactly match materials, paint color, or VCC mortar as specified in permit will result in a VCC violation and mandated repair of improper work.
